# Forgotten password

Password reset instructions

### **Password reset instructions**

1. If you are logged in to Ninchat, log out first.
2. Go to: <https://ninchat.com/new>
3. Click the link “Forgotten password”
4. Enter your email address in the username field
5. Click “Send password reset email”
6. Open the email titled “Ninchat – Password reset confirmation”
7. Click the “Click to reset your password” link in the email
8. The link opens a web page where you can set a new password for your account. Create a new password and click “Change password”
9. You can now log in using your email address and the new password

### **Troubleshooting**

#### When I click the reset link in the email, the password change field flashes briefly, but I’m logged into the service before I can do anything.

> Log out of Ninchat before clicking the password reset link.

#### "Change password" form says: "Error changing password"

> You have already used the reset link once. If you still do not know your password, request a new reset link by email.

#### "Change password" form says: "Just requested"

> You cannot request password reset multiple times in a row. If you e.g. made a typo while setting a new password, wait 15 minutes to request a new reset link, and set your password again.
